Robert Joseph (Joe) Seager
July 9th, 1936 - December 24th, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph (Joe) Seager on December 24th, 2022 at the age of 86.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Carol and their three children, Rob (and wife Wendy), Sandy (and husband Craig) and Kelly, his five grandchildren (Ryan, Kendra, Jennifer, Krysta and Callie), his brother Ted, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was born on July 9th, 1936 in Hamilton Ontario and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) in 1953. Joe met Carol while both were serving in the RCAF and married in 1956. Throughout his Military career he was stationed at numerous locations across North America. After a distinguished 39 year career where he rose to the rank of Major, Joe and Carol retired in 1992 to the home they built on Papineau Lake in Maple Leaf Ontario, where he could be seen commandeering his boat around the lake, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
Joe loved the opportunity to travel with Carol to visit their children and grandchildren and wouldn’t miss an opportunity to see them participate in their sports and activities. He also never lost his love of sports as a lifetime Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, and could also be seen channel surfing for Golf, Football and Curling. Joe will forever be remembered for his witty quips and fun-loving spirit. He will be missed forever as a husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date at Newcastle Funeral Home. The family asks that any donations in Joe’s memory be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to their church, St Andrew’s Bethel United Church, PO Box 186, Maynooth ON K0L 2S0.
