Obituary

Obituary for Ralph Edward Sutton

Ralph Edward Sutton
Dec 4, 1937 to April 30, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our Dad, Ralph Sutton on April 30, 2020.
Ralph passed away peacefully in his sleep at Ajax Pickering Hospital. Following the passing of his wife (Mom) Carol in August 2019, Ralph had increasing heart issues. Some say he died of a broken heart, we know he lived a life full of heart. A generous, loving, traditional man who gave selflessly for his family, friends and community. Dad; you’ll always be the king of our hearts because you were our first love from the very start. Grandpa; you leave us as the horseshoe and cribbage underdogs, your legacy will be hard to beat.
Ralph leaves behind his three daughters, Deborah (Grant) Murray, Donna Tunstead, Catherine Morris (Vern). Grandkids: Graham, Heather, Caitlin, Ryan, Aiden, Branden, Chris, Cameron and Amanda, and their partners. We will miss him like crazy. Ralph will also be missed by his extended family, many friends and community network. A celebration of life will take place when the current situation allows.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Time is such a precious gift. I am so glad that Ralphy found time for me. I first met him when I joined the East York barbershoppers over 40 years ago. Even though he is close to 20 years older than I, he always treated me as an equal. His friendly and kind smile drew me into his world and I am a much better person for that. Ralphy not only captured my attention, he was instrumental creating a bond with 3 other East York barbershoppers, Ken Beck, Roy Main and Gary Copper. Over the years the 5 of us became very good friends and when we got together it felt like we never missed a beat. Ralphy lead our group by arranging to go up to the cottages pretending to fish both in the summer and winter, having that great Saturday night dinner and waking up Sunday morning still laughing. Ralphy will be greatly missed. When I think of him I spontaneously end up with a great, warm and big smile.

I enjoyed our many conversations at the office and his always happy go lucky attitude. His contributions to Veridian and Big Brothers and Sisters bowling. Will definitely miss him. May he be happy now that he is with his beloved wife.

Ralph will be truly missed. Some of my favourite memories of Ralph are him and Carol tearing up the dance floor at the Mayor's Gala or at Veridian Christmas parties. He was such a generous soul. RIP Ralph with your sweet Carol.

Sad to hear of Ralph's passing. I worked for him in the mid 80's before I transferred North. He was one of the finest men I ever worked for.I loved his Friday cottage rule..we all got to leave early so Ralph could get to the cottage. My Dad Bud Pryor worked with Ralph many years ago. They enjoyed trips to Golden Lake fishing. My condolences for your loss. Garry Pryor
