Obituary

Obituary for Bill King

KING, DAVID WILLIAM (BILL) Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at home on Saturday, January 18th, 2020, David William King, of Port Perry, in his 77th year, beloved husband and best friend of Margot King (nee Cameron). Loving and adored father of Danielle Hurley (Liam Hurley), Port Perry. Cherished Gramps of Owen William Hurley and Jack Patrick Hurley. Dear brother of Pat (Patsy) Southall (California), and Mary King (Toronto). Loved brother in law of Valerie Cameron. Beloved Uncle to many nieces and nephews and their spouses.

Bill was a longtime member of the “Dirty Dozen” in Midland, Ontario and a lifetime member of JD’s Country Club, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Some of his happiest days were listening to live music and having a beer with friends, after a long walk on the beach with Margot. His daughter Dani, grandson’s Owen and Jack were the love of his life, he expressed his love through his actions on a daily basis, whether he was Pirate Alveraz, Batman’s sidekick Robin or just being a great listener when any of them needed advice and a friend. Bill would get up to lots of shenanigans with his son in law Liam, and spent many nights in the backyard, singing and dancing around a bonfire, all the while sharing stories with Owen and Jack of all the great bands he and granny would see up and down the Yonge Street nightclub strip in the 60’s, giving the boys a love for true rock and roll. He will be greatly missed and never, ever replaced. Until we meet again Billy, enjoy that big Blues Club in the sky and hope you are enjoying your “Last Waltz”.

At Bill’s request, there will be no service held in Canada. Family and friends are welcome to join us for a celebration of life to be held at a later date at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Ridge’s Hospice https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/33402

Margot and family
My deepest condolences on Bill's passing. Although I haven't seen him for many years, I always remember his wonderful sense of humour, and the great affection that he had for you. I recall those Christmas afternoons spent at our granny King's home in West Hill.
Love, Vicki Pettigrew (Hilda's daughter)

We have lost one of the great ones. Our lives will never be the same. Bill was amazing as a brother and uncle and he had the best sense of humor. He always kept us laughing. He was just the best! He will be in our hearts forever! Lovingly remembered by me, Lisa, Richard & Corrine.
