Condolence From: Sherry Lawrence
Condolence: I am sorry to hear of Bill's death. My memories are from along time ago, remembering Bill with Jack Weber and the two of them flying together and making planes together. Paula, I am sorry to hear about his death. Bill was always inventing something in shop and I would go in and watch him make agazing things. I have never forgotten Bill and have you both in memories always.

Condolence: I’ve always considered it an honour just to know Bill Lishman. I remember at his 50th birthday celebration in Port Perry Bill said to me “I’m gonna have to pick up the pace, I have so much more to accomplish”, and he certainly did. Bill lived life to the fullest and his unique approach to life had a way of rubbing off on you. Our lives have been enriched through knowing Bill Lishman and his amazing, artistic family.

Condolence: I met Bill through Jamie Ross, a friend and co-director of the Scugog Lake Stewards. Bill also became a director for many years and worked with Jamie and the group building Joe Fowler and Baagwating Parks in Port Perry. As part of Baagwating park he designed and had built, and surely provided at almost nil cost, a wonderful walking bridge that remains a signature installation. Bill was actually working with the Lake Stewards' board to design a second, sturdier bridge for our new Lake Scugog Enhancement Project.

While Bill was a member Steward for many years, he eventually had to leave because he was away so often, we therefore made him our one and only Director Emeritus.

He cannot be replaced for all the reasons others will give, but we will always remember his profound interest in the environment, his mile a minute ideas and his humour. Paula, Geordie, Aaron, Carmen, I am so sorry I will miss his 'celebration of life' but must attend the same for my own sister.

Condolence: I retrieved my high school yearbooks from the basement to confirm that the energetic, enthusiastic person I remember is indeed the Bill Lishman we all know. He, along with his poised and pretty sister Louise, were Grade 12 students at Sault Collegiate Institute in 1957-58. The following year their happy sister Alaine was my home room teacher. She struggled to maintain order in our class lest she get another visit from the formidable Miss Irving from the classroom directly below ours. Collegiate--since demolished--was a Wuthering Heights fortress on the hill overlooking the St. Mary's River and the city of Sault Ste. Marie. These were exciting times in the Soo. Construction of the International Bridge began in 1960, the same year that the first Wawa goose statue was installed on the recently completed Trans Canada highway. Thank you Bill for your free spirit and creativity. You and your siblings contributed to life in my high school and the North likely influenced you.

Condolence: Dear Paula and family,

My deepest condolences on Bill's passing. I am so glad that I reconnected with him about 3 years ago and had a chance to talk about our flying, renewable energy, motorcycling (even had a ride together that day), Bill's latest project, the ultralight droppable pod, and some of life generally.

I always admired Bill not just for his intellect, but more for his constant pursuit of his dreams of various inventions and projects, and usually making them work out quite well.

Even though I didn't see him very often, I always felt a definite bond there and will miss him very much. Paula, we're not really close, but please do reach out if there is anything I can do to help you in some way.

Condolence: I send my condolences to the Lishman family. Bill inspired so so many, including myself. He demonstrated in believing HOW to do something instead of cannot, showing perseverance enhances your life. Now Bill will be once again looking down on his earth as he enjoyed flying with birds, in a new time and space. I am honoured to still be able to visit with him as his book of the Oak Ridges Moraine has a prominent spot on our coffee table. I will miss his stories and sense of humour but I know he has left his imprint behind through his art and his children and all you encountered his adventures. RIP Bill.

Condolence: Dear Paula and family. We were so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Always loved when he flew over the house with the geese. The whole street would come out and watch.
Thinking of you during this very sad time.

Condolence: My condolences to all of Bill’s family. I have many memories of Bill, Louise & Elaine when we were younger in Pickering. Their grandmother, Mrs. Cronk lived upstairs in our home in The Village. I went to Pickering High with Louise & Bill. Always cherish your happy memories!
RIP Bill.

Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Bill. We always enjoyed his recounting of past and present incredible adventures. We loved watching his progress with the geese flying over our farm on the Quarter Line. May cherished memories sustain you through the days and months ahead.
