Location: Lot 12, Conc. 4 at Canton Access: From Port Hope or Welcome, travel north on County Road 10 (Toronto Road in Port Hope) to Canton, about 1¼ miles north of Welcome. Just beyond the bridge in the community you will see a sign on the side of the road showing the way to Canton Cemetery and Church. Turn right and follow the side road a few hundred feet. What you will find there: A well kept cemetery dating to the early days of settlement in the area. The first burial here was a member of the Hawkins family, who settled first at Port Hope, then spread north to Canton before 1820. There are some very interesting graves and stones in this cemetery.
